Today, the site has been under the protective umbrella of the NPS and, thanks to Tom's group, was recently reopened to the public--since then over 6,000 visitors have crossed the threshold. I'd also like to do the Battle of Long Island (1776), building the terrain, including the Old Stone House near the Gowanus Canal, which is located around the corner from where I grew up in Brooklyn. While it was an effective defensive position, it was not an impregnable one.
