A deep learning model must become adept at ignoring "noise" and irrelevant information within data patterns. "The network has to learn from the data which of these many events are noise or non-informative stuff to be ignored. If a NN has sj units in layer j (not counting any bias units) and s(j+1) units in layer j+1, and each neuron is connected to every neuron in the next layer, then O(j) will be a matrix of s(j+1) by sj + 1. The network is trained to learn a set of logical operators including the AND, OR, or XOR.

Artificial intelligence powers many of Baidu’s most important products, from search to services. The only communication between runs are hyperparameter settings and test evaluation metrics. Some of us have been talking with Nvidia's management and engineering teams about ConvNet and such for some time, and I'm really delighted to see their work come to fruition.
